Transcribe lost mails in this psychological horror game

Dead Letter Dept. is a horror simulation title set in a dystopian world where you play a data conversion operator in a huge city, putting information on a computer and transcribing lost mail and letters. This game is developed by Mike Monroe and Belief Engine for PC gaming.

Dead Letter Dept. provides an atmospheric and psychological playthrough using text-based and typing mechanics, delivering slow-paced gameplay but enough to keep players at the edge of their seats. This surreal and experimental adventure leverages procedural generation, features multiple endings, and is playable from a first-person perspective

Play as a data conversion operator

The narrative of Dead Letter Dept. follows a newly hired employee in a huge city working as a data conversion operator whose task is to transcribe missing mail and letters with nowhere else to go. However, as the days go by, strange phenomena begin to occur in the workplace, slowly leaking the truth from the cracks of mystery and the unknown.

In this game, you must process the text and images displayed on your screen at work. Be observant, though. Some files might be gibberish or nonsensical, but some might be encrypted with a hidden message. At times, these files might even be talking to you directly. Decipher the files and type up prompts using the keyboard to unveil the secrets that can lead to different conclusions

Procedural generation ensures users that every playthrough is a different experience, with each playtime estimated to be around two hours. It also features thematic sound effects designed to give you goosebumps, immersing you in the atmospheric horror mood. However, since the game utilizes both a keyboard and a mouse, these two controls are necessary in order to play this title.

Psychological horror with text-based mechanics

Overall, Dead Letter Dept. offers a chilling and immersive experience, blending psychological horror with text-based mechanics. Its procedural generation keeps every playthrough fresh and unpredictable, while the atmospheric design and eerie sound effects intensify the sense of unease. With multiple endings to uncover and a unique narrative, this game invites players to dive deep into its mysterious world, where every keystroke unravels more of the unsettling truth.
