Players face waves of enemies in the “EveryHero Project,” a simulation created by LexCorp, fighting classic villains like Bane and Poison Ivy. Between episodes, players earn resources that help them survive tougher challenges. Gameplay is typical of mobile action-adventure or hack-and-slash roguelite games. 

Justice League at year zero 

One of the standout features is how DC Heroes United mixes player agency into narrative progression. Choices made in weekly story episodes affect how the plot develops; these choices are voted on by the player community and then become canonical. The “EveryHero Project” sim mode feeds back into these episodes, meaning success or failure can influence branching points in the narrative.  

Set on Earth-212, this adventure imagines a version of the DC Universe where superheroes are not yet established. Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and others are still defining themselves—and players get to shape how they come together, what alliances they form, even which heroes survive. However, there are performance issues, and the narrative can be weak. Moreover, it can get grind-heavy. 

A fresh yet flawed take on DC’s Origins 

DC Heroes United delivers an ambitious blend of roguelite combat and interactive storytelling, giving fans the power to shape the early days of the Justice League. However, performance hiccups, repetitive grinding, and uneven storytelling prevent it from reaching its full heroic potential. Still, it’s a worthwhile pick-up for fans.
