Dartmoor Smart Counter, developed by DIGIDICED, is a companion application for the board game Forest Shuffle - Dartmoor that automates end-of-match scoring at the table. It uses the device camera to scan card layouts, recognize trees, shrubs, and terrain cards, and compute each player's total according to the game's scoring rules. The app also archives match records and provides a quick rule appendix for card reference. Owners of the physical game who want faster, more accurate scorekeeping and searchable history benefit most.

This is an official, expansion-aware companion for the physical game

So, when play turns to tallying, the tool acts as an official scoring assistant tailored to Dartmoor content. The developer designed the recognition engine specifically for Forest Shuffle card art and the app offers explicit support for all Dartmoor-specific expansions and promotional cards. Thus, players who use expansion packs find the same card set represented inside the app, keeping scoring consistent across added content.

Does it handle multiplayer results and local sharing?

The app supports session workflows that cover multiple players, it accepts up to five player results per scoring process, and it exchanges results using QR code integration to merge inputs from different devices. Core functions operate offline during play, while social exports require a connection. A typical local workflow looks like:

• scan or enter each result device-side
• generate a QR on one device
• scan that QR to merge another player's data

How accessible is setup across common devices?

Availability spans Android and iOS devices, with a tablet rear camera of at least 6MP recommended for best detection on larger surfaces. The interface is clean and echoes the physical game's aesthetic, and the app provides a manual entry option for players who prefer not to use the camera. Language support includes English and German, lowering the barrier for bilingual groups around the table.

What keeps you returning after the first session?

Replay value comes from reference and extended-content support rather than new scenarios. The app includes a searchable digital glossary and quick-access rule appendix for fast card reference during play, and its official expansion compatibility ensures relevance as players add content. Community feedback highlights the convenience of the scoring workflow and the interface design when resolving close totals after competitive matches.

Dartmoor is a practical table aid for physical players, not a digital game

The app suits players who keep the boxed components and want tidy, verifiable score records rather than a standalone digital experience. It does not replace the printed game or offer a playable digital port, so groups seeking a full electronic version should note that limitation. For anyone focused on accurate, table-side bookkeeping and match reference, the tool serves that role well.
