CYBER-LIP ACA NEOGEO is a premium arcade game from SNK, ported and re-released to be enjoyed by modern players on mobile devices. As a faithful recreation of the 1991 2D shooting game, you play as one of the veteran android soldiers to defeat evil robots and, ultimately, the titular supercomputer at the root of it all.

Its sci-fi theme and combination of action and bullet hell elements make CYBER-LIP ACA NEOGEO appear like an alternative Contra: Evolution game, or at least a precursor to games like Metal Slug 3 or Metal Slug 1. Be wary of its difficulty levels, though.

Defeat the massive Cyber-Lip

CYBER-LIP ACA NEOGEO is set in the then-futuristic year of 2016. Humans have released a supercomputer named Cyber-Lip designed to control all androids used for various purposes. Unfortunately, the supercomputer has gone rogue, and it’s up to two old-school military androids Rick and Brook to fight the advancing evil androids, destroy the evil supercomputer, and secure the future of mankind. 

As a part of the ACA NEOGEO series, expect everything to be the same as the original SNK arcade video game. It features 2D side-scrolling action, enemies with simple movement and attack patterns, and various levels marked by boss fights at the end. Unlike other 2D shooters, though, ammunition is limited here, and most enemies have weak spots that need to be targeted.

With a satisfying story presentation, including an ending cutscene, it’s a fun game you’ll see through to the end.  Like most retro arcade games, expect this one to have a demanding difficulty level. While the early stages are particularly easy, the rest of the levels require pixel-perfect precision, not to mention the need to find the most effective weapons and budget your ammo accordingly.

A fun yet challenging side scroller

As with its contemporaries in the ACA NEOGEO video game, CYBER-LIP ACA NEOGEO is also a great way to introduce these classic arcade titles to modern players. Its straightforward storyline, pixel art graphics, and steady difficulty progression all create an authentic arcade experience, but one that players can enjoy on their mobile devices. Aside from the late-game stages being exceptionally challenging, this is a fun game overall.
