cVIGIL is a free Android app developed by the Election Commission of India under the Business & Productivity category. It aims to provide time-stamped evidentiary proof of model code of conduct/expenditure violation with live photo/video and auto-location data. The app's unique combination of timestamping, live photo with auto-location data can be relied upon by election machinery to take prompt action and navigate to the right spot.

The GIS-based dashboard provides a strong decision tool for dropping and disposing of frivolous and unrelated cases even before they are acted upon, reducing the workload of election machinery on ghost complaints. The app fills the gap of fast information channels to transmit and track complaints on MCC violations. Delay in reporting of MCC violations has often led to culprits escaping detection from the flying squads of the election commission, but with cVIGIL, citizens can play a proactive and responsible role in ensuring free and fair elections.
