Custom New Tab is a free Chrome extension developed by Dictanote that allows you to customize your new tab page. By default, Chrome opens a custom Google Search page when you open a new tab, and extensions do not work on this page. However, with Custom New Tab, you can now point the new tab page to a URL of your choice.

With this lightweight extension, weighing less than 50kb (compared to other extensions like Grammarly, which is 36MB), you can easily set your new tab page to Google.com, your company's homepage, or even a blank page. The extension ensures there is no tracking, providing a secure browsing experience.

Custom New Tab also offers a useful customization option. You can choose to have the focus and cursor automatically placed in the address bar when you open a new tab page, or you can opt to have the focus on the page itself.

To disable the Custom New Tab extension, simply go to chrome://extensions and disable it.
