Inspired by classic detective point-and-click games of the late 90’s, Crime or Punishment has you taking on the role of a corrupt and crooked detective who willingly joined the payroll from the mafia. Being anything but true and honorable, you are a lowly scum that will do anything to thwart justice.

Not your average detective

As a corrupt detective, your task is to collect information and tamper evidence from within to frame an innocent bystander who happens to be at the wrong place, at the wrong time. The premise and story of the game makes it a unique one as you are now the one allowing crimes to happen which is a nice change of scenery.

With interactive characters, objects and so many other things, this makes the game feel the player alive and immersed inside this dark, criminal underworld. On top of that, the moody Atari-like noir sets the tone of the game perfectly, capturing the classic detective movies of the golden age of cinemas but with a unique top-down 2D gameplay.

Although the game has a unique story and premise, as well as a unique noir art style, it has its downs as well. For one, the gameplay mechanics and functions are limited so the players can’t do much aside from what was mentioned. Despite that, Crime or Punishment, especially with its free demo, outshines the only issue that the game has.
