Developed by Boris Dayma and Pedro Cuenca, Craiyon is a free AI image generator that uses artificial intelligence to produce images based on the user’s text input. Available as a web-based tool for the Google Chrome browser and as an Android app on the Google Play Store, Craiyon is similar to many other free AI tools like ChatGPT.

Formerly Dall-e Mini, this text-to-image generator was initially developed for a coding competition and inspired by OpenAI technology. Its creator, Boris Dayma, trained it to discern elements within images, interpret text input, and connect language to visual suggestions so that it can yield recognizable images from only a handful of words as well as more complex descriptions.

How does the image generator work?

The Craiyon image drawing tool features a text input box. Users can enter text in any language (preferably short and in English) and then hit Enter on their keyboard or press the orange Draw button to produce random images. A timer on the top right corner of the screen shows the time elapsed. Within minutes, it produces 9 images.

What can users do with the AI tool?

Aside from producing amusing but often unrealistic images with the free app, users can also share and print the content online, preferably crediting craiyon.com for the images.
