Craftar: Chat Downloader is a free Chrome add-on that allows you to easily download personal and group chats from Web Whatsapp with just one click. This program addresses the problem of not being able to download chats from Whatsapp, as it currently does not have an API for this purpose. Manually taking backups of chats or extracting them for search and analytics can be a tedious process, but Craftar's Whatsapp Downloader simplifies the task.

To use Craftar's Whatsapp Downloader, simply go to Web Whatsapp, select the chat you want to download, and click on the extension. Then, click on "Get Whatsapp Data" and the extension will automatically scroll up and download the chats as a JSON file. You also have the ability to control the amount of auto scrolling to retrieve older chats.

The downloaded JSON file contains various data, including user names, phone numbers, text messages, quoted text, attachment text, and timestamps. Craftar plans to further enhance the output and add more data in future versions.
