Relive the height of the Cold War

Cold War Crisis Mod focuses on the titular period in world history, which is generally considered to span from the 1947 Truman Doctrine to the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. While there was no confrontation between the superpowers, the period shaped them. They competed in terms of propaganda, science, sports, entertainment, and more. This mod lets you check out an alternate world where they face head-on.

In terms of content, the mod tries to be as realistic as possible. Unlike the vanilla version that is mostly balanced with slightly different unit designs, units here look largely similar to each other. Most tanks have similar-looking structures, but with varying skins. More importantly, the mod lets each faction focus on a specific strength: tanks and artillery for the Soviets and tech and aircraft for the United States.

There are only two factions, and the gameplay strategies for the factions differ significantly. Still, it doesn’t mean it’s grossly imbalanced, because the game reworks gameplay mechanics to let the player rely more on infantry. It even has over 60 custom maps included in the game and over 100 missions available, ensuring hours of fun and challenging gameplay for RTS and history fans everywhere.
