ClipCatalog is a Windows desktop app that turns large, unorganized video libraries into fully searchable catalogs. All AI runs locally — video content, transcripts, and face data never leave the user's machine.

AI Analysis

- Visual tagging detects people, objects, scenes, actions, and visual concepts as searchable tags.

- Whisper-based transcription captures dialogue and detects spoken language automatically.

- Face detection and clustering group recurring people across the library.

- SigLIP2 semantic embeddings power natural-language search over visual content.

- Highlight scoring ranks clips by visual interest, motion, speech, and face presence.

- Footage-type analysis classifies clips as dialogue-heavy, voiceover-heavy, or scenic.

Search Modes (all combinable)

- Tag search — drill into the library by AI-detected tags with match-any or match-all logic. Tags are discrete and enumerable, so users can browse what's in their library, not just query it.

- Natural-language (semantic) search — enter free-form phrases like "a lot of people wearing hats." Relaxed, Balanced, and Strict levels plus relevance sorting support broad or precise retrieval.

- Spoken-word search — find clips by words in the audio, filtered by language and speech coverage.

- Face search — filter by selected people, or jump to every clip featuring a given face.

- Saved presets — save and reuse any combination of filters for repeatable workflows.

Metadata and Technical Filters

Date range, camera, drone/non-drone, resolution, frame rate, duration, file extension, vertical, audio presence, 360° format (Equirectangular, Insta360, GoPro, DJI), directory path segments, and storage volume.

Review and Export

Thumbnail cards with expand/collapse, fullscreen preview, jump-to-moment playback, in-app player, external player launch, clipboard copy, drag-out, and multi-select. Transcripts are viewable inline and exportable as TXT or SRT.

Drive, NAS, and Archive Handling

Supports UNC paths and mapped network drives, plus any NAS reachable over SMB (other protocols work via third-party clients). Network volumes get NAS-specific icons and messaging, automatic reconnection, and non-blocking disconnection warnings. Moved folders can be re-linked — auto-detected where possible — without rebuilding the index.

Hardware Acceleration

Per-workload GPU selection with CPU fallback. A built-in benchmarking tool identifies the fastest configuration. DirectML, Vulkan, and OpenCL backends are supported.

Privacy and Security

All AI is local — no video content or transcripts are uploaded. The catalog database is SQLCipher-encrypted with keys stored in Windows DPAPI. Face processing is opt-in and stored face data can be fully deleted at any time. Telemetry and crash reporting are strictly opt-in.
