Clapper is a free video mobile app that allows you to share your video content globally. Developed by Clapper Media Inc., this multimedia app is a social platform where users aged 18 and above can upload videos about any topic and even live-stream interesting events. It’s similar to TikTok although it focuses more on diverse topics and lets anyone share their content without many restrictions like most social media platforms. 

Clapper is similar to other video apps like TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), and Threads from Instagram—where users post video content of anything and share it to the public or to anyone who uses these social media apps. 

What is Clapper known for? 

At its core, Clapper is an app for short-form videos allowing users to record and watch succinct, impactful content that can be easily absorbed. Compared to other multimedia apps, this program uses fewer filters and less moderation for the videos. Thus, you’ll find a lot of videos that freely express the opinions of users regardless of who they may be. With limited restrictions offered by the app, it makes it an open platform for users who want to share their views or perspectives with others, usually topics about politics. 

Although the features that this program provides lean more on the video-recording side. This app is designed to be easy to use and doesn’t require much post-editing or video editing. Here, users can only post a video of up to 3 minutes in length, so while they’re not as long as those on other video platforms, they’re long enough to get your point across in the content that you will create. 

Aside from these, as the app’s name suggests, the app also has a feature called “clapback” that allows you to directly reply to a video with your own recording—to react or share your own opinions on the topics you’ve come across. Additionally, the app has an equal opportunity algorithm that recommends different videos relevant to your location rather than trending and popular users. Moreover, its clapper fam monetization feature allows creators to profit from their content via their fans. 

Updated features of the app 

With its updated properties, the app offers enhanced features to its users like its updated group chat features and other direct app enhanced features. In this app, you can now create up to 10 group chats. With this, you’re free to create different group chats for the various content you offer or for various passions you have. Paid groups are also now available in the app wherein the creator of the group chat can set a monthly entry fee to its members or joiners in the group chat. 

In addition, adding users to a group chat can now be done through a link. Creators of group chats also have the option now to delete messages for everyone and mute the chat that they’re in. Additionally, the app now has the power to freeze group chats wherein the admin is inactive. On the other hand, just like the Spaces feature in the social media platform X, this app also has a Radio feature wherein the host can allow up to 2,000 listeners.  

The app also hosts a weekly Radio show called Clapper Talks wherein they feature a certain creator to discuss their content with the listeners. Another updated feature is earning a commission after a friend you refer starts earning through the app. However, the app doesn’t offer post-editing features, which is not ideal for those looking for advanced editing tools in a video app.

All in all, Clapper is an interesting choice for a video-centric social app. This multimedia app recommends interests that are local to your area, and it also encourages you to freely post your opinions, works, and content without fearing much censorship from the app. However, take note that this app is only for those who are 18 and above. Additionally, the types of videos are varied although the app leans more toward political posts.
