Choo-Choo Charles is a novelty survival horror game from Two Star Game. Here, players will have an action-packed adventure in an open-world island setting. The catch is that you are an old train, and there is a killer train on the loose.

Your task in Choo-Choo Charles is to eradicate the evil train called Charles. To do so, you will complete missions to collect Scraps. Over time, you will use these scraps to upgrade your train so that you have enough armor, damage, and speed to take down the evil monster. That is if Charles doesn't get you first. 

What is Choo-Choo Charles?

Choo-Choo Charles takes you to an island, where you play an old train. Here, you will explore its forested areas, beaches, and mountains. You will also interact with paper-doll NPCs that inhabit the island. However, an evil clown-faced train is on the loose. Known by the locals as Charles, this monster preys on the flesh of the puny humans. It is your goal to stop him once and for all.

However, as you are an old train, you don't have the power to stop him. With this, you need to gather Scraps, which you can use to upgrade. To collect them, you have to complete missions given by humans. You can also loot some as you roam your way across the island. Be careful, though. Charles is out to get you, and he can move even away from the tracks.

New game mode

The core gameplay experience in Choo-Choo Charles is already quite the nightmare-fueled affair, yet a new game mode called Nightmare Mode aims to ramp up the thrills and scares even more. The atmosphere has been reworked to be much darker and menacing-looking, accompanied by a new, spookier soundtrack that provides a more tense visual and auditory experience for newcomers and returning players.

Then there’s the difficulty, which has been set to the max to test even if you’ve played the game many times before. To achieve this, you will only be granted one life, and if you die, everything will reset, forcing you to start over again. Charles is also stronger and more aggressive, making him a lot harder to deal with when stepping out to look for scraps for your train.

Choo-Choo Charles succeeds by turning an absurd concept into a tense and memorable survival horror experience. Exploring the island, upgrading your train, and constantly fearing Charles creates a satisfying gameplay loop filled with suspense and unpredictability. Nightmare Mode pushes the challenge even further for experienced players seeking intense survival pressure. While repetition and limited mission variety may appear over time, the game’s bizarre premise and atmosphere make it stand out.
