Xiangqi (Chinese: 象棋), also known as Chinese chess, is a strategy board game for two players. It is one of the most popular board games in China. This game is a combination of chess and Chinese martial arts. It combines strategy, tactics, and intuition. It is similar to chess, but with more emphasis on strategy and tactics. It is also similar to tic-tac-toe, but with more complexity. The game is played on a board that is divided into 64 squares. Each player starts with 16 pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns. The pieces move according to the rules. The object of the game is to kill the opponent's king. To achieve this, one player must move all the pieces to the opponent's home area, or to the opponent's dead area. The winner is the one who captures the opponent's general (king).
