Canadian Tire has now joined many Canadian businesses in offering a couponing app. Users can obtain discounts using the app, shop and browse the week's flyer, and enjoy a few other extras as well. And don't think Canadian Tire Money has gone away, either: you can now obtain and redeem it as part of the app, too!

Harder Than Hardware

Unfortunately, there are a few blemishes to the actual process of using the Canadian Tire app. Chief among them is what it doesn't do: it refuses to save passwords, and it won't push notifications about the latest deals to you. This means that you need to regularly 'check in' to truly benefit. On the flip side, in our testing the flyer was accurate to what each store sold, and both the actual CTM and discount features worked quite well.

Some Maintenance Required

In practice, this means that Canadian Tire's new app will work best for consumers who shop often at the store and are willing to put forth effort to shave off dollars from their purchases at the store. You need to check for deals, and doing so can be slowed down by bugs in the program. But when it comes to actually buying, this app offers great value for its price of free. Pass on this if you're looking for quick discounts, but definitely use it if you shop at Canadian Tire often.
