Calvino Noir is a stealth game, which has been heavily influenced by film noir cinema, as well as dystopian video games like Deus Ex. The story is set in Europe in the 1930s and places players in control of multiple spy-like characters, who must be guided past AI-controlled guards. It provides options for both stealth-based and more forceful approaches, and although stealth is encouraged, the core mechanics suffer slightly from inconsistency, especially when hiding. Nevertheless, Calvino Noir benefits from excellent voice acting, an engaging plot and interesting characters, and will appeal to fans of both the stealth game and film noir genres.
