Bubble Story is a free puzzle game created by Hong Kong based company “puzzle games bigger”. The simple puzzle game lets players solve series of puzzles by launching bubbles.

Simple Premise with Simple Playthrough

Bubble Story is simply about Squirrel Lucy preparing for the harvest season. Her farm is full of fresh fruits and vegetables and the only way to gather them is through Puzzle Bobble style. For those unfamiliar with Puzzle Bobble, it is a classic arcade game where players are situated in a rectangular field. There are pre-arranged bubbles that they have to clear by bouncing a bubble from the bottom of the screen. An arrow pointer is utilized to control the trajectory and direction of the bubble and players can use it to do trick shots such as bouncing the bubble from the wall to an unreachable corner. The bubbles are cleared if they are hit with the same color of the bubble. There are also obstacles such as unremovable bubbles and they stay until the bubble above them is removed. Any bubbles below the removed bubble are also dropped, helping players to clear the screen. Players have to hurry up as the bubbles crawl slowly to the bottom of the screen and if they reach the bottom, it’s game over.

Player-Friendly Approach to The Classic Game

Bubble Story has additional game mechanics to at least deviate from its source material. There is only limited ammunition to shoot so players have to be extra careful when firing one. Every successful shot gives a score and a percentage of the meter above the screen. Performing combos of consecutive bubble dropping have bonus scores. Each progress on the meter unlocks a star rating and the other game objective is to acquire 3 stars.

New Features for the Puzzle Bobble Genre

The puzzle game has different chapters with two modes. The first mode involves rescuing birds by popping the bubble with the bird in it. The second mode is collecting water drops by simply clearing the whole screen. Clearing 20 hurdles per session unlock new contents. The puzzle game includes incentivized daily login. Every time the player logs in every day, they are rewarded with resources, items, and in-game cash. They are free to utilize items as well as purchase in-game gold to enhance their gameplay. Players may eventually face obstacles like clouds, stones, and spiders that will stop bubbles from bouncing and clearing out clusters of bubbles.
