The BrightSpace Open In New Tab Extension is a free Chrome add-on developed by wesselvandam2000. Designed for users of the BrightSpace virtual learning environment, this extension allows for the opening of PDFs, videos, and text content in a separate tab with the click of a button.

Many users of BrightSpace often find themselves hindered by the built-in viewer for files on the 'Content' tab. Switching between files requires clicking through various topics or downloading them first. This extension aims to improve productivity and user experience by enabling easy opening of files in new tabs.

The extension supports PDF files, Kaltura Media videos (such as lecture recordings), and text-only pages on BrightSpace. It works for both students and course administrators. While not all file upload methods are supported, the most common ones are. The 'Open in a new tab' button may appear on unsupported file types but will not function.
