This app is designed for use by customers of the cable provider Bright House TV. It lets you program your DVR and even watch TV from your phone or other devices, provides a TV guide, and is frequently updated with fixes and new functionality.

Service usually available

The biggest problem with Bright House TV is that the connection is unreliable. It's sometimes affected by the location of your box versus the device (phone, laptop, et cetera) you're trying to view TV on, but despite our best efforts, occasionally it simply became necessary to try reconnecting until it worked. This is an ongoing problem throughout different versions of the app and has shown only modest improvement. On the good end of things, the TV guide provided with the app is fantastic and includes detailed, color imagery, good show descriptions, and ratings. It even provides a full week of scheduling info!

Good app, unfortunate provisions

Overall, Bright House TV provides an app that's well-made, but it also serves to make any gap in their service more noticeable. If you love having a big, glossy TV guide and viewing your cable from around the house, that's one thing, and you should definitely get the app. But if you're expecting to view TV from a truly remote location (like the train station), you should try to look elsewhere.
