The output picture is the result of three highly configurable components and your creative actions. First, you can select an underlying image and zoom and position it with respect to the text to shape your outcome. Second, the text lines you type are analyzed for chemical element codes from the periodic table. Finally, you can choose to display the selected elements as basic or advanced symbols.

In addition, Breaking Elements provides detailed information on chemical elements. By long pressing an element name in the list of chemicals found, you can access a dialog with comprehensive information from the periodic table.

The app's user interface is available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, German, French, and Dutch. However, the help file is in English only. The element names have been translated into various languages, making this app accessible to users worldwide.
