Its backronym is BRAVIA, which stands for "Best Resolution Audio Visual Integrated Architecture." Since 2005, the BRAVIA logo has been on all Sony high-definition flat-screen LCD TVs in North America. "LCD WEGA," which Sony used for LCD TVs until the summer of 2005, has been replaced by "BRAVIA." In 2014, Kasuo Hirai, the President and CEO of Sony, made BRAVIA a subsidiary instead of just a brand of products. This was part of his plan to turn Sony around.
