BomberSnake is an indie game that combines two popular arcade games, Bomberman and Snake. In this game, you will play as the Bomberman, who is inside a 2D dungeon filled with coins and chests. The catch, however, is that there is a snake that also collects these coins. If the snake found more, you lose. If you take more than the snake, you win. Of course, you can also kill the snake with a bomb to get all the coins.

The gameplay of BomberSnake is simple. As noted, you only need to maneuver around a dungeon and try to get more coins than the snake. What makes it challenging—aside from the snake—is that the dungeon is pitch dark. The only space lit is the small area around the Bomberman. That light will follow wherever the Bomberman goes. With this, you won’t see the entire dungeon, so you won’t see where the snake is. Each coin you collect gives you one point. There are also pears throughout the dungeon that can give you 25HP.

To control the Bomberman, you can use your keyboard. To move around the dungeon, you can use the arrow keys or WASD. The space bar lets you drop a bomb while pressing the shift key lets you run faster. Aside from coins, there are also treasure chests that contain random items. There is also chest light, which you can get to increase your visibility range for a short time. Of course, there are also bomb power-ups that you can collect and use to beat the snake.

Everything in the game screams retro, especially its pixel art. Playing the game will bring back memories of the classic arcade games. However, like the games it took inspiration from, there is nothing that the game offers aside from nostalgia. There isn’t much when it comes to challenge and reward. There isn’t even a leveling system that allows you to save your progress. You will always start from the beginning every time you play.
