Boiling Point: Road To Hell is a premium adventure game for PC from developer Deep Shadows. It is a re-release of an open-world first-person shooter of the same name originally released back in 2005. It follows the story of a former soldier out to save her daughter who was kidnapped.

Similar to Far Cry 6 or Borderlands 3, Boiling Point: Road To Hell combines first-person shooter gameplay with open-world exploration across its large map. It also boasts non-linear progression that can be played in all kinds of ways wherein choices matter and shape how events unfold.

One man against a country

Boiling Point: Road To Hell centers around Saul Myers, a veteran of the French Foreign Legion. He gets wind that his journalist daughter, Lisa, has gotten mixed in with some bad people, kidnapped, and is being held captive in the fictional South American country of Realia. He must now take up arms again and delve into the corrupt landscape to rescue her.

There are six factions controlling the Realian Valley in Boiling Point: Road To Hell. Gain their favor to get information in the search for your daughter, and avoid making unnecessary enemies. In case of conflicts, you have a variety of upgradable weapons, from pistols to rifles and machine guns. You can also use boats, planes, and others to get around the more than 240 square mile map.

All that said, the game is not without its faults, though. First off, it's a direct re-release of the original 2005 game, and there are no changes made to address its glaring flaws. The controls are unresponsive and the music and dialogue are quite poor. Worse of all, it suffers from frequent crashes that happen randomly. Suffice it to say, it needed a lot of work.

A flawed classic

On one hand, it's great to see one of the classic open-world first-person RPGs get released again for modern players to experience. On the other, there was no real effort in addressing and fixing its issues first. The result is a flawed game buried with problems and will be near-unplayable for most. You're better off playing something else other than this.
