Bmod is a free mod by UrSafot for the military real-time strategy (RTS) game Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3. This utility is an overhaul that completely reinterprets the factions of the base game, making it look like a spin-off. Unlike the Armor Rush Mod, which offers new factions, this mod focuses on enhancing the existing ones.

Aside from revamping the Red Alert 3 factions, Bmod also introduces a slew of gameplay changes that transform the gaming experience. These changes include fully automated ore mining and restrictions on which units can conduct exploration. It’s currently in active development.

What does the mod change?

Bmod is focused on enhancing existing gameplay elements instead of adding new ones. It streamlines ore mining by fully automating it while also making mine reserves decline across time. This incentivizes players to capture ore mines more frequently and earlier in a match. The damage and weakness system has been updated to better serve as a guide in building an army.

This add-on introduces a slew of changes to the base game factions, ranging from minor buffs and nerfs to full unit reworks. For instance, the bomb drop of the Allies’ Vindicator now has a delay and the Soviet’s Spy has a longer bribe range and lower cooldown. The restriction on which units can explore also comes with changes to which units are considered scouts.

However, with so many gameplay elements altered, the mod suffers from balancing issues. Some nerfs and buffs may feel too much and some reworks might feel janky. However, the mod is still in active development so these issues can be patched out eventually. It can also take players a bit of time before getting a good grasp of all the groundbreaking changes to the gameplay.

Is it worth playing?

For those who are tired of vanilla Red Alert 3 and other mods, Bmod is recommended for you. There are changes everywhere, and they can feel overwhelming to some people and the balancing issues can also be a turn-off. Players who are willing to invest time should try it to get a feel of the gameplay, then decide whether to keep playing or not.
