Blipread is an extension for Chrome that shows you how long it will take to read a page.

A page is represented by several words. You can choose to count words or characters on the page and have the extension automatically update every time you open a new tab.

You can also choose the font size and have it used in the calculation.

You can choose to have it updated every time the page is updated. You can also choose to turn it off to read just one page at a time.

You can also set it to only count words and not characters.
