BhuvanPOI is an app which enables users to contribute data to the highly popular Bhuvan Maps – a mapping software developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The app allows users to submit the coordinates of points of interest, such as ATMs and museums, to the organisation’s database as well as using GPS to map their local neighbourhoods. By crowd-sourcing geographical data in this way, BhuvanPOI has the potential to significantly increase understanding of the topography of the Indian subcontinent.
