BF3: Reality Mod is a game utility application developed for Battlefield 3. As the name suggests, this is a mod for the popular first-person shooter. Here, players can expect an overhaul in the game's visuals and gameplay.

The Battlefield 3 Reality Mod focuses on overhauling the teamwork, communications, and combined arms tactics of the 2011 game. It also promises a 24-hour day-night cycle with dynamic weather for a more realistic battle experience. The battles also now support more than 100 players. Note, however, that players need to own BF3 and all its expansion packs to play this mod. 

What is BF3: Reality Mod?

The Battlefield series is no stranger to total conversion mods since its developers allow anyone to access its game engine. With this, the series grows, especially in the BF1942 and BF2 days. However, the developers had no official modding platforms for the BF3 Frostbite engine. Hence, it took seven years before a total conversion mod was released. Similarly, you can run this mod through the VU - Venice Unleashed platform.

As mentioned, the Reality Mod does not only provide visual upgrades to BF3. Rather, it overhauls the overall gameplay to make it more challenging. It redesigned the HUD and removed pretty much all of the aids you expect from modern shooter games. Beyond HUD limitations, you can also expect realistic ballistics, very short TTK, and new custom content. Overall, it offers simplicity in gameplay compared to modern games.

Besides reworked gameplay, the Reality Mod also created new maps, textures, effects, and more. It also promises a 24-hour day-night cycle with dynamic battles. Moreover, it comes with multiple in-game radio channels, including positional audio. Speaking of battles, more than 100 players can now engage in the skirmish. Although, it requires a legit copy of the BF3 and all its expansion packs to play the mod.

Is the mod good?

BF3: Reality Mod offers various enhancements, making the already awesome game better. Not only did it improve the action game visually, but it also brought more to the gameplay. It offers a complete gameplay and UI overhaul, creating a more tactical and meaningful experience. However, this is not officially endorsed by Electronic Arts or DICE at all. So don't go looking for them if problems arise.
