Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster is a role playing game. It is a refreshed version of two classic single player RPG games, Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean and Baten Kaitos Origins. These games feature a unique card-based battle system where players use cards, called magnus, to store and release the essence of items, equipment, and spells.  

In Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster, the storyline is set in a world of floating continents where people have moved to escape a desolate land below, sealed off after a great conflict with an evil god.

The HD Remaster brings significantly improved graphics, making the game visually stunning. In addition to the graphical enhancements, new features have been added to make the game more accessible and enjoyable. An auto-save function ensures that players never lose their progress. A help menu provides useful tips and explanations, making it easier for new players to understand the game.  

New Game+ and New Game- modes offer different levels of challenge and replayability. Players can also adjust game speeds and toggle encounters on and off, allowing for a more customized experience. However, the complexity of the game's mechanics and story might overwhelm new players unfamiliar with RPGs or the original games. The magnus system, while innovative, can be complex and may require a steep learning curve for new players.
