avoMD: Preoperative Eval is an iPhone app developed by AvoMD Inc. It aims to provide quick, interactive, and educational guidance to help clinicians evaluate and prepare adult patients for noncardiac surgery. The app incorporates the 2014 ACC/AHA Perioperative Guidelines, along with additional comments from literature reviews up to SeptemberIt was developed in collaboration with Dr. Steven Cohn, a renowned expert in Perioperative Medicine.

With avoMD, clinicians can assess the risk of surgery by considering co-morbidities, patient medications, and using interactive medical calculators like RCRI, MICA, ACS-SRC, and DASI. The app also offers evidence-based references, best practices, and detailed explanations on recommendations, enhancing the learning experience for clinicians.

The team behind avoMD consists of physicians and informaticians from Columbia, Yale, and Harvard. They have partnered with leading academic medical centers, urgent care providers, residency programs, and medical schools across the US. The app has received recognition, winning the 2020 pitch competitions at Columbia Engineering and Penn Medicine, and joining StartUp Health and 500 Startups.
