Arcade Archives AIR COMBAT 22 brings Namco Limited’s 1995 arcade classic to modern platforms as part of Hamster Corporation’s celebrated collection of retro titles. Originally powered by the advanced System Super 22 hardware, the game was a leap forward in 3D arcade aviation, pushing polygonal visuals and immersive missions to new heights for its time. 

A retro sky combat like no other 

Arcade Archives AIR COMBAT 22 is the direct sequel to the original Air Combat, Air Combat 22. It offers arcade-style aerial combat across a handful of compact but intense missions. Players pilot one of three jets tasked with blasting enemy fighters, managing time extensions, and even mid-air refuels to stay airborne. Responsive controls let you dominate and conquer the skies. 

It also adds modern conveniences like multiple save slots, rewind and quick start features, VRR support, and the recreation of original arcade display settings. It includes modes such as Original, High Score, and Caravan, while the newer Arcade Archives 2 edition also provides Time Attack and Network modes for competitive play. However, it’s limited in content, and the graphics aged poorly.
