Find a group of dedicated testers
App Hive: Closed Testing Hub is a free utility app for indie developers who need to meet Google Play’s closed testing requirements before publishing their app publicly. This is done by grouping you with other testers to mutually test each other’s apps instead of manually finding a test group online.
Currently, Google Play requires a group of at least 12 developers to continuously test an app for 14 consecutive days before publishing. With App Hive: Closed Testing Hub, it creates a 17-user testing group (including you) with an extra four testers serving as a buffer, in case of sudden withdrawals and attendance issues.
Collaborate to test each other’s apps
App Hive: Closed Testing Hub features daily mutual testing, meaning you install apps from other developers and then take a screenshot as proof that you did your work. This process also applies to your own app, helping you identify and resolve bugs quickly. Please note that daily participation is mandatory; failure to complete your tasks will be detected by the system, resulting in automatic removal from the mutual testing process.
The app boasts 100% authentic testing from real humans to ensure that you get high-quality feedback and collaboration. Any emulators are blocked by the app. Additionally, the workflow is designed to be intuitive; for instance, when you release a new version of your app, you can create custom tasks to notify your testers about the updates and encourage them to explore the new features for targeted feedback.
While the app offers a well-structured workflow, it doesn't always guarantee the completion of the 14-day testing period, as there’s always a chance that some users may become inactive. The overall experience largely depends on the activity level within your Hive group. However, for many small or solo indie developers, this app greatly simplifies the process of finding and organizing a dedicated group of testers.
Perfect for indie developers
For small-time developers looking to test their apps, App Hive: Closed Testing Hub makes it a lot easier to look for dedicated testers. It isn’t perfect by any means, and the experience depends heavily on community participation, but for solo developers trying to pass Google Play’s testing requirements, this app can save a huge amount of time, effort, and coordination.
