Angry Birds Go! is a free-to-play Mario Kart-style racing game featuring the characters from the popular Angry Birds series of games. This is a completely different kind of game than we're used to from Rovio's feathered heroes. 

The basic principle of Angry Birds Go! is simple—get around each track as fast as you can. This arcade game rarely gets boring, thanks to the variety of race modes, drivers, cars, courses, and power-ups. There are even real-world toys that can be used with this game, such as Telepods and a tie-in with Angry Birds Jenga. 

Angry Birds now on karts 

Angry Birds Go! transforms the classic Angry Birds formula into a 3D kart racing experience. Players choose from a roster of characters, each with unique abilities, and race down vibrant tracks filled with obstacles and power-ups. The races are straightforward, focusing on speed and strategy, with players aiming to outpace opponents and utilize character-specific powers effectively. The game offers various modes, including standard races, time trials, and fruit-smashing challenges, providing a diverse racing experience. 

The race modes in each stage include: Race, Time Bomb, Fruit Splat, Versus, and Champion Chase. There are five Races, Time Bombs, and Fruit Splats per stage. The controls are designed for accessibility, allowing players to choose between tilt or touch inputs to steer their karts. Each character's special power can be activated during races. It also features an upgrade system for karts, allowing players to enhance speed, acceleration, and handling to gain a competitive edge. 

Simple premise, hard to master 

Angry Birds Go! now includes an online multiplayer, where you can race other players from around the world, or beat your Facebook buddies. There are also various new challenges to complete once you've finished the races on a particular stage, as well as Facebook integration so you can challenge your buddies' high scores. There's no online or head-to-head multiplayer over WiFi like in Sonic and SEGA All Stars, nor a 'battle mode' like in Mario Kart. 

The community-driven project "Angry Birds Go! Nitro" emerged, revitalizing the classic game. This mod introduced several enhancements, including fixed multiplayer functionality, kart balancing changes, and universal karts available across different episodes. Additionally, the mod removed in-app purchases, making all content accessible to players. These updates breathed new life into the game, allowing both new and returning players to enjoy an improved racing experience. However, there’s no official version of this, and it’s only available through mods. 

A fresh spin on a classic franchise 

Angry Birds Go! successfully brings the charm of Rovio’s beloved series into a vibrant 3D kart racing format. With its variety of modes, fun power-ups, and accessible controls, it offers plenty of fast-paced entertainment. Despite lacking a proper online multiplayer and relying heavily on in-app purchases in the original version, the fan-made “Nitro” mod keeps the game alive with balanced gameplay and renewed excitement.
