It further decreases friction by suspending the puck on a thin cushion of air that is ejected from tiny vent holes incorporated into the surface. The raised edges of the table allow the puck to reflect off of them horizontally. Thus, the game's name, which resembles the lubricated gliding of an ice hockey puck on a well-polished rink. This results in the puck hovering and moving quickly across the table with no loss of momentum.
