Antibiotic use in the treatment of infections has long been a controversial topic. With the increased prevalence of antimicrobial-resistant microorganisms, the question of the optimal use of antibiotics has become even more crucial.

At the same time, as the number of patients who require treatment for infections has increased, the need for an efficient and effective treatment has also increased.

To address this problem, the Department of Medicine, AIIMS, has developed an antibiotic policy for the treatment of infections. The purpose of this document is to provide guidelines for the use of antibiotics, to improve patient care, and reduce the prevalence of antimicrobial-resistant microorganisms.

The guidelines are based on the latest available information on the subject, as well as the results of recent clinical trials.

This is the first such initiative from the Department of Medicine at AIIMS.
