Age of Wonders 4: Ways of War is a DLC that expands the popular strategy game with a rich array of new content that enhances gameplay and strategy. Players can now dive into battles with the Oathsworn culture, which brings ethical and tactical depth to your campaigns.  

In Age of Wonders 4: Ways of War, this culture comes with three unique subcultures that define your approach: Oath of Harmony, which promotes peace and a multicultural empire; Oath of Righteousness, which rewards players for aligning with good and fighting evil; and Oath of Strife. 

Master new tomes 

Age of Wonders 4: Ways of War adds variety to the gameplay, allowing for diverse playstyles and strategic choices. The DLC introduces four new tomes, ranging from the Tome of Discipline that empowers your units with cleansing attacks, to the Tome of Calamity, which brings destructive Ghostfire attacks. Each tome unlocks unique units and skills that enrich your tactical options.  

Two new forms, the Ogrekin and Simians, offer new ways to build your faction. Each has distinctive traits that impact how you approach combat and strategy. Players will also encounter new ancient creatures—those aligned with prosperity and those dedicated to calamity—adding further challenge and intrigue. The game features new mounts and an updated interface skin, enhancing the visual and immersive experience.  

The music, composed by Michiel van den Bos, brings a fittingly epic tone to the game, making every battle feel grand. For players seeking more depth, the new realm template, pre-made rulers, and expanded world map content provide plenty of exploration and strategy. However, the DLC requires Age of Wonders 4 to play and the game might not appeal to casual players due to strategic complexity.
