Uncover the secrets of a terrifying island
Acrophile is a free adventure game from whilegameisfalse where you will have to explore a mysterious island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, with its own haunting secrets. It makes use of a point-and-click system that requires you to interact with your environment in order to uncover the mystery behind the location.
Similar to There’s Nobody, Acrophile is told in a first-person perspective that allows you to place yourself right in the middle of the action. Players should also take note that this indie horror title features some sensitive content, such as body horror.
A terrifying yet gripping experience
Acrophile’s creepy plot revolves around the main character trying to make contact with a tribe that is completely cut off from the rest of the world. The story is presented in 2D pixel form and makes use of chilling and unsettling visuals. The plot isn’t that long but it provides a good amount of development that properly fleshes out the story in a short amount of time.
This point-and-click adventure features a well-made soundtrack that adds to the creepy atmosphere. It’s highly recommended that players make use of a headset in order to better immerse themselves in the game. You will also be able to explore various locations, all of which have interactive elements filled with tiny details that thicken the plot and make the open world even more interesting.
Unfortunately, though, the game does not support manual saving, so you can’t mark where you last left off and come back to it later on. It’s best to sit through the entire duration of the plot so you don’t have to repeat everything from the beginning. Some of the dialogue can be difficult to read, as well, due to the lack of contrast between the background and text.
Short but fulfilling
Horror fans and casual players alike can appreciate the immersive experience that Acrophile allows you to enjoy. From the visually appealing graphics to the lore-filled storyline, this indie title is worth checking out. However, there are some improvements that need to be made when it comes to text readability, especially since the graphics are quite dark and hazy, to begin with.

- Makes use of retro pixel graphics
- Features a well-written plot
- Includes an immersive soundtrack
