A2M is a unique and innovative program that allows real-time conversion of audio to MIDI. Developed by NILSON sp. z o. o., this multimedia software is available for iPhone users. With A2M, you can play instruments like the guitar, saxophone, or even sing, and simultaneously trigger sounds in virtual instruments. Acting as both an audio effect and a MIDI effect, A2M analyzes the input sound and generates output MIDI events.

A2M comes as an AUv3 plugin and a standalone application. The plugin version is compatible with AU Hosts such as Audiobus, AUM, and apeMatrix. However, it does not work in GarageBand. On the other hand, the standalone version works with all MIDI-compatible applications, including GarageBand. The app sends MIDI events via the virtual MIDI port, which can be configured in the application settings.

With A2M, you have control over various parameters, including the audio input buffer size, pitch recognition method, gate threshold, input gain, latency/accuracy, and velocity gain. The program offers two popular algorithms for pitch recognition: autocorrelation and FFT. It also provides latency control, ensuring accurate tracking. However, it should be noted that A2M has some limitations in its current version, such as no polyphony and no pitch bending.
